The Ukrainian Canadian Civil Liberties Association wants a former KGB agent who has sought asylum in a Vancouver church to be deported back to Russia, and they hope a postcard campaign will help get that message across.
The Canadian government has given Mikhail Lennikov’s wife and son permission to stay in Canada, but he has been under deportation order for over a year.
UCCLA chair Roman Zakaluzny says Lennikov has exhausted every legal avenue to stay in the country, so he must go.
Zakaluzny wants the federal government to stop ignoring the situation.
The postcards depict a flight attendant and a one-way ticket from Vancouver to Vladivostock, which is Lennikov’s hometown.
